Sue Jarene "Jean" (Dodson) McMurtrey

Sue Jarene “Jean” (Dodson) McMurtrey, 84, passed away Wednesday March 9, 2022.
Born in Tompkinsville, KY, Jean was a homemaker and a member of Shively Church of Christ for over 50 years. She was always up for an adventure, was a talented seamstress, a gardener who cherished her flowers, a sports fanatic, an avid reader, and loved to work her crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Joe “Toehead” McMurtrey; parents, Mose and Thelma (Crowe) Dodson; and her sister, Hilda Carter.
She is survived by her children, Shawn McMurtrey (Dawn) and Shannon Cassin (Eddie); grandchildren, Ashley Dietrich, Brock Cassin, Hunter McMurtrey, and Taylor Cassin; great-granddaughters, Presley and Baylor Dietrich; brother, Julian Dodson; sister, Sandra “Sandy” Neal (Dennis); countless nieces and nephews; and friends who loved her dearly.
Her funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday. Her burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. CST Sunday, March 13 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Tompkinsville, KY.
