Obituary

Shirley Olivia (Rhoton) Bean Baskett, 86, of Gamaliel, KY passed away Saturday, May 6th, surrounded by her family. 

Shirley was born in Monroe County, KY on April 25, 1937, a daughter of the late Chloe  Dean (Deckard) and Trav  Rhoton.

She was married to Bransford Eugene Bean and later in life to Randall Baskett, both preceded her in death. 

Shirley was a Christian lady, by faithfully attending Clementsville Church of Christ, praying before meals, reading her bible and singing hymns. She was a classy lady, always dressing her best, being polite, respectful and hard working. Her family refers to her as "tiny but mighty," and being the matriarch of their family, she has taught them life lessons and left many memories and a legacy of love. Shirley enjoyed gardening, traveling, sewing, spending time with family and friends, singing, and serving her community. Shirley worked as a seamstress at sewing factories and was a member of Gamaliel Homemakers.  

Shirley is  survived by two daughters, Debbie Crowe, and  JoAnn  Brown, and her husband, Rickie, both of Tompkinsville, KY; two step daughters, Diana  Bowles, and husband, Larry, of Tompkinsville, KY and Kimberlin Baskett, of Gamaliel, KY; step son, Steven Baskett, and wife, Kimberly, of Mt. Hermon, KY; three grandchildren, Brad Crowe, and wife, Paige, Bryan Crowe, and wife, Tiffany, Emily Shaw and husband, Tyler; eight great grandchildren, Ellie, Nolan, LiviaJo, and Luke Fletcher Crowe, Jayce and Jax Crowe, Kiptyn and Tucker Shaw, several step grandchildren and great grandchild. 
 
Shirley is also survived by a sister, Inez Starnes, of Gallatin, TN. and a brother, Billy Rhoton, and wife, Anita, of Tompkinsville, KY.

Other than her husbands and parents, she is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eddie Crowe, grandson, Richard Joseph Brown, three sisters, Cathern Wood, Betty Reagan York and Agnes Troutt Alexander. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY. Burial to follow in Gamaliel Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday 4-8 p.m., and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations in Shirley's memory are suggested to Gamaliel Cemetery.
