Ruth Ann (Head) Curtis, 91, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Monday, September 5th, at Monroe County Medical Center.
Ruth Ann was born in Meshack, KY on September 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Lester Head and the late Wilma Hammer Head Pitcock.
On August 17, 1957, she married Randall Curtis in Overton County, TN.
She was a 1950 graduate of Tompkinsville High School and a 1956 graduate of Western Kentucky State College.
Ruth Ann was a teacher for over 30 years. Her teaching career started in a one room school in Monroe County. She taught at Temple Hill Elementary School for the last 25 years of her career (1957-1982).
She was a Monroe County Deputy Sheriff (1982- 1986).
Ruth Ann was an avid reader. She enjoyed her plants and flowers. She LOVED her cats.
She is survived by her husband, Randall Curtis, of Tompkinsville, KY; her brother Philip (Linda) Pitcock and a sister, Golda Hall.
Survived by nieces and nephews; Bronson (Rhonda) Pitcock, Brandon (Julie) Pitcock, Bridget (Meg) Pitcock, Wesley Pitcock, Amanda Hutcherson, Loretta Carpenter, Lisa Cawthorn, Patti (David) Moore, and Terry Hall. She is also survived by a host of great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews along with a special little buddy, Trace Pickerell.
Her parents, a brother, Larry Pitcock and sister-in-law, Josephine Pitcock Clarkson preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompinsville, KY. John Osgatharp will officiate. Burial will follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Visitation will be held held on Wednesday, September 7, from 3-8 p.m., and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
