Pansy (Bartley) Gillenwater, 85, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Tuesday, August 8th, at Celina Health and Rehab surrounded by her family.
Pansy was born in Tompkinsville, KY on May 15, 1938, a daughter of the late Lura Mae (Gearlds) and Elner Bartley.
On December 21, 1957, she married Freddie Gillenwater. Freddie preceded her in death on May 18, 1992.
Pansy worked at KEY Work Clothes for many years, she later worked as a cook for Joe Harrison Carter Elementary. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Church of Christ. Pansy enjoyed quilting, sewing, riding horses in her younger days, mowing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Pansy is survived by a son, Timmy Gillenwater (Louise Hays), of Tompkinsville, KY; two grandchildren, Hillary, and husband Randy Lee of Knob Lick, KY and Houston, and wife, Lindsey Gillenwater, of Tompkinsville, KY; seven great grandchildren, Joseph, JC, Harper, Harmony, MaKinley, Maizley and Maverick.
Pansy is also survived by two sisters, Brenda Harlan, and husband, Veachel, of Tompkinsville, KY and Linda Holt, and sister-in-law, Janice Bartley, all of Tompkinsville, KY; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Dana Gillenwater and brother, Freddie Gene Bartley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY, with burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Visitation is Thursday, 4-8 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
