Jessie Olene (Anderson) Geralds, 97, of Gamaliel, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 23rd, surrounded by her family at Monroe County Medical Center.
She was born on October 4, 1928, in Cumberland County, Olene was the daughter of the late Jessie Ed Anderson and Mattie (White) Anderson.
Olene married Charlie Geralds on April 1, 1946 and preceded her in death on September 21, 2007.
She worked for many years as a factory worker before retiring. She loved going out to eat, especially when it meant catching up with old friends, and she cherished every moment spent with her family. She was a member of Gamaliel Baptist Church and she held the honor of being its oldest living member until her passing.
Olene is survived by three daughters, Mary Ford, of Gamaliel, KY; Judi Ford, of Tompkinsville, KY; and Nancy Fox, of Gamaliel, KY; two sons, Stevie Geralds, and wife, Carol, of Red Boiling Springs, TN, and Roger Geralds, and wife, Joanna, of Gamaliel, KY; daughter-in-law, June Geralds, of Gamaliel, KY; 13 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren.
Olene is also survived by a sister, Ruth Sewell, of Indianapolis, IN.
Other than her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a son, Larry Geralds, sons-in-law, Tim Ford and Kenneth Ford, daughter-in-law, Deborah Geralds, brothers, Kyle, Hershal, Ray and Taylor Anderson, and sisters, Flora Spears, Clyde Ballard, Pearl Hall, Velma Anderson and Junita Blythe.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 26th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Gamaliel Cemetery. Bro. Danny Pace is officiating the service.
Visitation is Tuesday, 3-8 p.m., and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Olene's memory may be made to Gamaliel Fire Department.
