Morris Edward Scott, 90, passed away Sunday, February 12 at his home.
He was born December 15, 1932, the son of Les and Oma Scott.
Morris married Doris Smith of Russell Springs in 1950 with whom they had three children. He was later married
to Bette Witty Cain Scott for 13 years, who preceded him in death
along with his parents and two sisters, Alice Faye Bryant and Frances Darlene
Scott.
He is survived by his three children, Reverend Morris Wayne Scott (wife,
Karen) of Fountaintown, IN; Donna Jean Keller (husband, Ted) of Greenfield, IN;
and Sharon Leanne Ladd (husband, Ken) of Caledonia, MI; brother Jeff Mars Scott,
Glendale, KY; sister Mary Gaye Condra, Greenfield, IN; also, three step-children,
Charlene Gearlds (Bobby), Rickey Cain (Teana), Eugena Flippin (Todd), all of
Tompkinsville, KY. Also survived by eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 8
step-grandchildren, 15 step-great grandchildren.
Pop worked many jobs when he wasn’t helping on the farm or going to school. At
age 15 he started working at a saw mill for six months. He left Kentucky and
went to Indianapolis and worked at a White Castle for eight months. He said this
was the only job he was ever fired from. He worked five months farming. Next
he worked 9.5yrs at a small factory making rubber parts for cars and TV radios.
He worked part time driving a cab. He retired from Western Electric, Indianapolis,
after 22 years before moving back to Monroe County, KY. In his retirement years
he drove a school bus fifteen years while landscaping and doing yard work. For
leisure, he enjoyed taking numerous motor cycle trips cross country and through
the Smokey Mountains. During the Western Electric shut downs, he and the
family enjoyed boating and camping at Dale Hollow Lake. Making music and
playing the guitar with his friends was a highlight, too.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday, 4-8 p.m., and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. until service time. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Washington Park Cemetery, 10612 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229 on Monday, February 20, at 2:00 p.m. EST
