Morgan Smith Obituary

Morgan Brooke (Barnett) Smith, 34, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 10th, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Morgan was born in Glasgow, KY  on May 25, 1988, a daughter of Vicky (Wood) and Dwaine Barnett.

On September 8, 2012, she married Landon Smith at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, after 10 years of dating.

Morgan graduated from Monroe County High School in 2006. After high school she went to Western Kentucky University where she majored in Pre-Pharmacy. Morgan then went to University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy and obtained her Doctorate of Pharmacy. Morgan was employed as a Pharmacist at Walgreens in Edmonton, KY. Morgan was saved and has been a member of Tompkinsville First Baptist Church since her teenage years.

Morgan lived a full life in her short 34 years. She loved traveling, especially to Disney World. She loved being spoiled by her husband. She was a true daddy's girl and her mothers best friend. Morgan was the mother of two sons that she loved dearly and always had fun with, Will, age 7, and Alex, age 4. In 2019, her sister, Megan, also at the age of 34, lost her life in a car accident. Morgan then stepped up and was that mother figure for her nephew, Drew.   After her sister's tragic accident  she used Megan's words of "We Can Do Hard Things" as her life motto. She had the most contagious laugh and  wonderful personality. She could find the best deals and had fun wherever she was. Morgan faced her cancer diagnosis with optimism, strength and class. Morgan has not only left a legacy but she has left a family, friends, and a community that will have to live up to the sisters' saying of "We Can Do Hard Things" as everyone goes forward.

Morgan is lovingly survived by her husband, Landon Smith, parents, Dwaine and Vicky Barnett, two sons, Will Smith and Alex Smith, all of Tompkinsville, KY, a nephew that she treated as her own, Drew Davidson, brother-in-law, Randy Davidson, both of Bowling Green, KY, grandmothers, Ruth Wood, of Tompkinsville, KY and Dorothy Louise Barnett, of Bowling Green, KY, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Neva Smith, of Tompkinsville, KY, her life long best friend, Chandra Veach Walker, of Tompkinsville, KY, several aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends also survive.

Morgan is preceded in death by her sister, Megan Davidson, grandfathers, Willis Wood and Emmart Barnett, and grandparents, Paula and Wilma Murphy.

Funeral services will be held at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation is Monday, 2-8 p.m., and Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.
