Marie Poland, 93, of Glasgow, KY and formerly of Monroe County, KY, passed away Friday, July 28th, at NHC in Glasgow, KY.
Marie was born in Indiana on July 5, 1930, a daughter of the late Ivy (Gearlds) and Thomas Ford.
Marie was a member of Monroe Baptist Church. She was the first woman to drive a school bus for Monroe County. She had various jobs throughout her life from working at local factories, Community Action and doing farm work. She fiercely loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed music and playing the guitar. Marie could make the best chocolate pie.
Marie is survived by two daughters, Margie Ford, and husband, Howard, of Louisville, KY; Janette Schwarz, and husband, Tim, of Davenport, Iowa; and a son, Randy Poland, and wife, Regina, of Glasgow, KY; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by the father of their children, Renald Poland.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 31st at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY, with burial to follow at Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.
Visitation is Monday morning after 9:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
