Lindzie Murphy, 81, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Saturday, June 8th, surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren at Monroe County Medical Center.
Lindzie was born in Liberty, KY on May 29, 1943, a son of the late William Logan Murphy and Iris Cleo Wiltcher.
Lindzie graduated from Harry E. Wood in Indianapolis, IN. He later served in the Air Force. He retired from Walmart in April 2024. In his past time, he loved watching sports on T.V., especially the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed playing the lottery, cornhole, and horseshoes.
On July 14, 1983, Lindzie married Vickie Marie Murphy in Tompkinsville, KY. Together they raised four daughters, Jennifer Bow (Mark), of Tompkinsville, KY; Mary Welch, of Bethpage, TN; Michele Murphy, of Lebanon, IN and Heather Harr (Ian), of Tompkinsville, KY; two sons, Warren Murphy (Tasha), of Tompkinsville, KY; and Shaun Murphy (Christine) of Murfreesboro, TN.
Lindzie and Vickie shared together 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Lindzie is survived by two sisters, Helen Ottele (Lyle) of Minden, NV; Karen Pruitt (Jerry), of Indianapolis, IN; a honorary sister, Brenda Graves (Larry), of Tompkinsville, KY; two brothers, Vernon Murphy, of Mooresville, IN and Don Murphy of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by his Walmart Family.
Lindzie is preceded in death by his parents, William Murphy and Iris Wiltcher, mother and father-in-law, Frank and Mary Denton; his brother, Glen Murphy; sisters, Bonnie Murphy and Betty Clark; sisters-in-law, Sue Murphy and Mary Anne Murphy and brothers-in-law, Billy Dodson, David Denton and Mike Denton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, burial to follow at Harlans Crossroad Cemetery.
Visitation is Tuesday, 4-8 p.m., and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lindzie's memory may be made to Harlans Crossroad Cemetery.
