Joe Crawford Obituary

Joe Lester Crawford, 79, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, March 20, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

Born on August 12, 1946, in Hestand, Kentucky, Joe was the son of the late Ester (Price) Crawford and John Preston Crawford.

Joe was first married to Wanda Bryant Crawford, who preceded him in death on December 23, 2020. He later married Delma Vibbert Crawford, who survives.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Joe owned and operated Joe’s Muffler Shop in Tompkinsville for many years. He took great pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic. Joe never met a stranger and he truly enjoyed talking with people.

He loved animals, especially cats, and had a lifelong passion for antique cars. Above all, Joe treasured his family. In his free time, he could often be found “pickin’ in the shade,” where he made music and shared good times with friends.

Joe will be remembered for his kindness, patience, humbleness, his love of life, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.

Other than his wife, Delma Crawford, he is survived by two daughters, Peggy Evans, and husband, Randy, of Tompkinsville, KY; Tina Capshaw, and husband, Terry, of Tompkinsville, KY; step children, Jason Smith, and wife, Leslie, of Tompkinsville, KY; Amanda Carter, and husband, Jimmy, of Tompkinsville, KY; five grandchildren, Jerika Capshaw Gentry (Andy), Kirstyn Capshaw, Kaitlyn Capshaw Watson (Steven), Sheyene Evans (Danny) and Hunter Evans (Baylee); five great grandchildren, Oliver Watson, Olivia Watson, Wyatt Gentry, Alayni Wood and Elijah Gus Wood; step grandchildren, Baylee Smith, Luke Smith, and Colton Carter.
 
Joe is also survived by four sisters, Elizabeth Strong, of Moss, TN;  Anna Yates (Arthur), of Moss, TN;  Donna Crawford, of Indianapolis, IN; Cora Beasley (Harold), of Indianapolis, IN; a brother, Roy  Crawford, of Westmoreland, TN; brother in law, Skip Martin of Indiana; sisters-in-law, Geneva Netherton, of Nashville, KY
 
Preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Crawford; daughter, Regina Crawford; sister, Lora Parsley, brothers, Jack Leon Crawford, Issac Crawford (Opal), sister in law, Margie Crawford; brother in law, Jake Crawford (Pua) and Avery Netherton.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 26, at 1:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, 4-8 p.m., and Thursday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe's memory may be made to Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.
