Jo Ann Rothenbush Thompson
Was born on October 18, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents who preceded her in death, Calvin Benjamin Rothenbush of Cincinnati, Ohio and Vera Wyoma Lutes of Kurts, Indiana.
She grew up on the south east side of Indianapolis with her 3 siblings Jennifer Rose Rothenbush (Carmichael), Janice Rae Rothenbush ( Reidelbach) who preceded her in death and twin brother Jan Joseph Rothenbush ( living) of concord, California. Her Love of outdoors stems from spending numerous hours of play with her siblings at Riverside park and various parks throughout the city of Indianapolis. Garfield Park is where she Would be seen frequently playing on the playground with her brother Joe. It is where she unbeknownst to herself had her first encounter with the man who would become the love of her life, husband of 47 years Estes Hall Thompson of Hestand, Kentucky. He was a groundskeeper for the parks department and scolded her and her brother to stay off his tractor while he took a lunch break.
She knew from a very young age what she was to do with her life she was to serve others and care for them by becoming a nurse.
She was a high school graduate of Arsenal technical high school and an alumni of the First graduating class of nurses at Indiana university at Indianapolis class of 1973.
Less than a year later while working at st Francis hospital in beech grove, Indiana she would be caring for the man God intended for her to Marry. She would say she had the Florence Nightingale effect with him.
They married August 10, 1974.
We celebrate her life. Honor her. Share her beautiful heart and character with everyone. Those who truly knew her could not only see her gentle soul but feel the love and compassion she had for others. Especially those suffering and in need.
