James "Jim" Jones, 82, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Saturday, February 25th, at Monroe County Medical Center.
James "Jim" was born in Monroe County, KY on September 28, 1940, a son of the late Velma (Turner) and George Jones.
After graduating high school, James served in the Army and National Guard. He served during the Vietnam War and later during Desert Storm. James was awarded a Bronze Star during his time serving our county. He worked as a truck driver for Dollar General and later at Beldon Corporation. He would also work at Backyard Bar-B-Que on the weekends. He was a member of Monroe County Bass Club.
James "Jim" is survived by a sister, Barbara Combs, and her husband, Lawrence, of Glasgow, KY; two nieces, Tammy and Teresa, six great nephews, three great great nieces and one great great nephew, a host of cousins and special friends also survive.
Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a special friend, Imogene Clarkson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1st, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Military services will be preformed by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20.
Visitation is Tuesday, 4-8 p.m., and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at
1:00 p.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
