Flora Copas Obituary

Flora Nell (Biggerstaff) Copas, age 77, of Sand Lick  passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on June 29, at her home after months of failing health issues.

In her final days she was surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and friends. She was loved by one and all. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved, worried and prayed for each and everyone of us daily. She will be missed dearly by all of us.

She was born March 14, 1944, in Monroe County, KY at her family home. A daughter of the late, Willard "Hobson" Biggerstaff and Mary Frances (Crawford) Biggerstaff. She was united in marriage to Roy Douglas "Doug" Copas on August 22, 1960 at the home of Brother Carl Jones. They shared a very special 60 years together. When Doug became a minister early in their marriage, Flora Nell was religious and spiritual partner and supported him in his ministry throughout their lives together. She was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church since Fall of 1960.

Flora Nell was a sewing operator at various factories in her life until she had to retire due to failing health issues. She loved to sew and quilt in her spare time and made many quilts for the children and grandchildren. In her final months she found enjoyment in watching her miniature horses play and the birds eating. She always cherished the moments that the grandchildren came to visit so she could love on them and watch them play. She enjoyed flowers and collecting hens on their nest.

Leaving behind to honor her memory are her husband of sixty years, Doug Copas; two daughter, Ella Loretta Trivett and husband, Buzz Leon, of Summer Shade, Teresa Lynn Gentry, and husband, Garry of Sand Lick; Three grandchildren, Nichole Proffitt (Jeff) of Tompkinsville, Jarrett Trivett (Brittany) of Temple Hill and Donovan Gentry of Sand Lick; four great grandchildren, Layne and Lydia Trivett, Jackson Gentry and Sage Proffitt. Three brothers, John (Wanda) and George (May) Biggerstaff, of Tompkinsville, KY and Gary "Skeets" (Connie) Biggersfaff of NoBob; three special nephews, Dennis, Jeremy and Mark Copas, and three specials nieces, Mary Doolin, Mary Lou Pedigo and Jamie Copas along with a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Clifford and Jess Willard Biggerstaff and three sisters, Dolly Thomas, Linda Brandon and Betty Turner.
