Evadene Bartley Kirkpatrick passed away on September 19, 2022. She was born on April 25, 1932 to the late Raymond Bartley and Ethel Dodson Bartley in Cyclone, Kentucky. Evadene loved to stay busy! After graduating from Bowling Green Business College, she became a legal secretary for Louie B. Nunn, assisted in the Monroe County Clerk’s office, and was a legal secretary for many years for Clay Hundley, Jr. She was involved in many charity drives, sold Avon, gardened, sewed, was an active Bible class teacher in her church, and spent many years as a Girl Scout leader. Evadene opened Youth Fashions in 1967 and ran this store for several years. She was elected to the Tompkinsville City Commission in 1974. She began a greenhouse which then turned into the Greenhouse and Gift Shop in the old Harold Smith house. She was an active and loving granny to her seven grandsons.
Survivors include her daughters, Susan Kirkpatrick Ciampa (Mark); Ellen Kirkpatrick Vinsant; and son, Joseph Price Kirkpatrick (Ann); seven grandsons: Brian Marc Ciampa (Amanda); Gregory Charles Ciampa (Megan); Alec Benjamin Vinsant (Marla); David Kirkpatrick Vinsant; Benjamin Price Kirkpatrick; Rider Owen Kirkpatrick and Grayson Joseph Kirkpatrick; five nephews: James Lewis Proffitt III; Jonathan Kirk Proffitt; Bartley Dee Pitcock (Stephanie); Scott Daniel Pitcock (Paula); Troy David Pitcock; and a niece; Julie Proffitt Hibbett (Rob).
Evadene was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Charles A. Kirkpatrick, and her two sisters, Emma Jean Bartley Pitcock and Sue Bartley Proffitt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Evadene’s name to The Monroe County Backpack Program.
The funeral service at Yokley-Trible will be on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow at the Evans Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday morning beginning at 9:00 a.m.
