Eagle “Bert” Butler 85 of Tompkinsville, passed away on Friday February 2, 2024 at Signature Healthcare with his family at his side
Born on September 19, 1938, the youngest of 10 children to the late William Houston Butler and the late Iva (Lyons) Butler at the home of his parents on Poplar Log Church Road in Monroe County
Bert was saved at the age of 9 years old, during a revival at Poplar Log Baptist Church.
Bert enjoyed the outdoors, he loved hunting, fishing, and bee keeping. But what he loved more was spending time with his grandchildren. Bert loved to talk with people and help out when someone was working on a project.
On May 27, 1961, he married his wife of 62 years, Jessie (Richey) Butler, who proceeds him in death
Bert is survived by his daughter Julianna “Julie” Headrick, son-in-law Bro Joe Neal Headrick, of Tompkinsville, KY; a grandson Derek Dalton Headrick and a granddaughter Emma Nichole Headrick. Also a sister Flora Nell Gettings. Plus several nieces and nephews.
Other than his parents and wife, Bert is preceded in death by a son, Nicholas “Nick” Butler. Siblings, Bethel, Cecil, Sam, Josh, and Clyde T Butler, Ruby Collison, Loretta and Carl Butler.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home with burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, and on Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
