Bro. Paul "Cricket" Strong, 91, of Moss, TN passed from this life, peacefully, at his home on Monday, February 21, 2022.
Paul was born to Docia (Reecer) and Mose Strong in the Knob Creek area of Clay County, Tennessee on December 7, 1930.
He was saved in 1945 at Macedonia Baptist Church. He joined the church and was baptized at the close of the revival that he was saved in.
He proudly served in the US Army.
On December 8, 1954, he married his little brown eye sweetheart, Christine Kendall. They remained a union until her death in 2018.
Paul was called to preach the gospel in 1962 in his cornfield under his Super C tractor. He was ordained in the ministry by Macedonia Baptist Church in 1963. He then went on to Pastor several churches. The first one was Poplar Log. He was a Pastor at New Salem twice, Sand Lick, Athens twice, Old Temple Hill, Lone Star, Beach Grove #2 twice, Mt. Poland and the last church he was a Pastor at was Macedonia, his home church.
He was also a farmer.
Paul is survived by two daughters, Lola Jean Dillon Fawbush, of Gainsboro, TN and Paulette Scott, and husband, Tim of Moss, TN. Two granddaughters, Tammie (Stacy) Dickerson of Cookeveille, TN and Kassi (Zachary) Fox of Columbia, TN; two great granddaughters, Gracie Huff and Mylie Herron. One sister, Janie Smith of Moss, TN and two brothers, Phillip "Todd" (Sue) Strong of Moss, TN and Malcolm Strong of Moss, TN; and a close friend, Leon Emberton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sisters, Vishia Goolsby and Evelyn Brown and brothers, Willie M. "Pony," William A. "Billie" and Junior B.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 23rd at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY.
Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, with Military Rites performed by Glasgow DAV Chapter 20.
Visitation is Tuesday, 2-8 PM, and Wednesday, 8:00 AM until services at 11:00 AM, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
One of Cricket's final requests was for anyone coming to the services to please wear a mask for the protection of his family.
