Betty (Turner) Carter York, 85, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Friday, March 4th, surrounded by her family at her home.
Betty was born in Jeffery, KY, on February 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Addis (Jones) and Robert "Bob" Askin Turner.
She worked as a teacher for the Monroe County Board of Education for over 30 years.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Lynne Bushong, and husband, Jim, of Nashville, TN; and a son, Dr. Michael Carter, of Tompkinsville, KY; 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Betty is also survived by one brother, Dr. Erwin Turner and one sister, Kaye Turner, both of Lexington, KY.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. William Carter and Dan York; son, Kelly Carter; granddaughter, Leah Carter; daughter-in-law, Terry Lynn Carter.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, March 8th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY with burial to follow at Monroe County Memorial Lawn.
Visitation is Monday, 5-8 PM, and Tuesday after 8:00 AM until service time at 12 Noon at Yokley Trible Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to Monroe County Backpack Program.
