Betty Jo Bowman, 97, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Monday, February 27th, at Signature Health Care of Monroe County.
Betty Jo was born in Tompkinsville, KY on November 10, 1925, a daughter of the late Winnie Ann (Carter) and Norris Ellsworth Smith.
During Betty Jo's life, she worked on Boeing Aircrafts, at KEY Industries, Monroe County Trade School and at TK Chism Jewelry. She was of the Baptist faith, and she had faithfully attended Rockbridge Missionary Baptist and Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, where she played the piano at both churches.
Betty Jo was married to William Denton Miller and then later to Ben Bowman, both of her husbands precedes her in death.
Betty Jo is survived by a son, Steve Miller, and wife, Becky, of Melbourne, FL and their son, Daniel; son-in-law, John Dillard, of Salem, IN and his daughters,Nancy Jenkins and Stephanie Keltner, and six great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Betty is also survived by a half brother, Alan Dale Curry, of Florida.
Other than her husbands and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Miller Dillard, a infant son, William Denton Miller, Jr., a brother, William Carter "Bill" Smith, and three half sisters, Dorothy Smith York, Dean Smith Proffitt and Martha Jean Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 3rd at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Bro. Gary Emberton will officiate the service.
Visitation is Friday morning after 10:00 a.m. until service time at 12 noon at Tompkinsville First Baptist Church.
